Responsiblities
A Press Secretary serves as a liaison between Assembly members and reporters and helps create messages to communicate Assembly Democratic views to constituencies. Work products include press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, speeches, press conferences and media appearances.
The Video Production Manager is responsible for the video and electronic publication of the Democratic caucus, strategically supplementing public communications with broadcast-quality video packages to traditional and new media outlets.
Background
Born in West New York, James Sverapa IV is a New Jersey native who has been involved in Democratic politics since January 2003.
Mr. Sverapa joined the Assembly Majority Office in January 2006 and became video production manager in April 2008.
Mr. Sverapa has served in various press, communications and managerial capacities for: former-Senator Garry J. Furnari; the New Jersey Senate Democratic Office; the 2003 campaign of former-Senator Ellen Karcher in District 12; the 2005 campaign of Matt Doherty and Jim Reilly in District 11; and the 2007 campaign of John Napolitani and John Pirnat, also in District 11.
He also has worked as a private sector political and corporate consultant.
Education
Mr. Sverapa is a graduate of The College of New Jersey and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication.
