Environment Committee To Hold Joint Hearing On Accountability For Superfund Obligations In NJ

TRENTON - The Senate Environment and Energy Committee and the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee will hold a joint public meeting in Lyndhurst, NJ, on Tuesday to hear testimony from invited guests on actions taken by corporations to avoid their Superfund obligations in New Jersey through federal bankruptcy proceedings. Invited guests will include experts on environmental issues, Superfund sites, and other key stakeholders.

The committees will also consider identical resolutions (SR-107/AR-219), sponsored by Senators Smith and Christopher "Kip" Bateman and Assemblyman Timothy Eustace, urging relevant federal and State authorities to investigate actions taken by the Argentinian state oil company, YPF S.A., to discharge Superfund obligations through bankruptcy proceedings for its environmental liabilities at its subsidiary's former site in New Jersey.

The Committee will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 10:00 AM at the Meadowlands Environment Center, Two DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst, New Jersey.
